InvestEd provides COVID-19 Relief Assistance to Filipino students and families

Since the start of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), InvestEd has received multiple updates from its Investees (student borrowers) on how the prolonged school and office closures have impacted their lives and have added to the financial burden of their families.

InvestEd quickly responded to the situation by commissioning a survey of all its Investees to identify their immediate and long-term needs in the context of the global COVID-19 pandemic. The survey identified that there was a significant portion of Investees who most needed immediate relief support — specifically, those whose families have suddenly lost their primary sources of income and have limited financial options to recover these losses in the midst of the quarantine.

As part of its COVID-19 emergency response initiative, InvestEd launched a donation drive to provide basic cash assistance to Investees in need. Through this effort, InvestEd was able to raise more than P100,000 from multiple generous individuals and was able to help at least 50 Filipino families.

InvestEd’s mission is to help college students get a degree and find employment through coaching. Our growth model pushes us to go beyond just financing students’ education. InvestEd goes the extra mile to help students overcome their toughest battles to ensure that we make an impact in their lives, especially at a time when job security and the future of young people are at stake.

-- Melissa De InvestEd co-founder and project lead for the donation drive.

The InvestEd team, a group of young and dynamic dreamers led by CEO Carmina Bayombong, understood the urgency of Investees’ situations and acted swiftly to ensure disbursements for the cash assistance reached Investees as fast as possible, in spite of the mobility restrictions and limited cash remittance services posed by the ECQ.

InvestEd received an overwhelming response from Investees all over the Philippines who turned to social media to express their gratitude to donors who made this relief operation possible.
